Some Snow of our Own

We got a little snowstorm the other day! I was beginning to feel left out listening to report after report of the huge snowstorms back East. It started snowing a bit Sunday, then really started coming down on Monday. Monday we put the kids to bed, and went out and started digging out the driveway - shoveling the foot of snow that had already fallen.

I love the muffled quiet when it snows. All I could hear was "scrape", "thud", "scrape", "thud", and our own breathing and conversation, which were mostly exclamations on the amount of snow! When we woke up, there was more to shovel! The kids excitedly went outside to "help".

Yaks checked the mail. He's anxiously awaiting his birthday.

Diddles and I stayed indoors, taking pictures (from inside) and starting breakfast. I'm already training her to be self-sufficient!

Boo's school was canceled, but she didn't have school anyway this week due to parent/teacher conferences. Rightly so.

The saying goes that good things come to those who wait. Our neighbor across the street, Janet, didn't do any shoveling the day before, so she really had her work cut out for her.

Just as I was thinking we needed to go over to help her out, along came this John Deere shovel! I love that this is a completely normal thing to see driving down the road.

He completed in three minutes what it took us 45 minutes to do!

He went up and down the street helping people out. Good neighbors.

Wow, what a snow storm! We have not a trace of white stuff anywhere.

That is amazing! It is a real winter wonderland from this perspective in the Middle East. I hope you make a snowman or two.
