The Dog Days of Summer

Saturday we went to Strut your Mutt in Sugarhouse Park. Since we don't own dogs ourselves, we have to enjoy others'. We were a bit disappointed this year, as they changed the layout of the event, but we were able to sit on the grass for a bit to enjoy the doggie parade. I think half of Salt Lake were out with their dogs, proudly strutting them around the park in their orange bandanas!

"We love your dog! May we pet it, pretty please?"

We spent some time looking at all the dogs and choosing our favorites. Boo liked the Dachshund and Yaks seemed to like the big, shaggy dogs best. I was planning to do this fun owner/dog lookalike thing for you all, but alas, the camera battery died. Doggone it!

We left with only one casualty. Yaks got growled and barked at by a grouchy dog. I shot the owner a "don't mess with my kid" look, since weren't anywhere NEAR her dog. C'mon, only bring friendly dogs out in public, please. Yaks got his feelings hurt and we had to carry him back to the car.

Carl, could we come play with you? You're still our favorite. :)

Poor Yaks.. I would have been a disaster there.. I've never met a dog that liked me.

Sounds like a fun, different kind of parade to watch. How fun for the kids.

And, YES! You can "have a dog" vicariously through Carl any day. Come up any time. He'd love to play with the kids! To him, anything that moves around on two feet holds the great potential of playing catch with.
