A Shower for Kellie

Tim and Kellie got engaged in July, and announced their wedding date for September 1st!  A pretty short period of time to get everything organized and together, but we love Tim and Kellie so much,  we tried to pull out all the stops to make things special for them.

When I found out that I would be back in town on August 10th and 11th, plans were set in motion for us to host a bridal shower for Kellie.  The girls in her family were invited, along with our sisters and our Farrer cousins, who may as well be sisters!  We delegated food assignments, and Ryan and Peter helped watch the kids.  Three cheers for Catherine, who brought her camera!  I'm so glad someone thought to bring one so we could have a few pictures of our party. Thanks, Catherine!
Aunt Janet, Aunt Kathryn and Mom.  I love that they all have the same smile!  Cute sisters.

We had a great time with Cassie's little cutie!

It was so wonderful to meet Kellie's mom and sisters.  They are so great!  Down-to-earth and fun company.  No one was obligated to bring gifts, but it was so sweet to see the gifts that were given.  We didn't have any silly games, but just enjoyed eating, visiting and sharing memories, stories and well-wishes.  My favorite kind of party.

Aunt Katie made a lap quilt, which she does for every niece and nephew to get married.  They are so beautiful and each one is unique.  It was so pretty with yellow, white and periwinkle blue, but I failed to get a picture.  You can see it folded up next to her in the picture below.

This box below was from her Mom.  Kellie had registered at a local hardware store in their town in Wyoming, and saw this casserole dish and decorative holder.  She fell in love with it.  Tim thought it was kind of silly.  She didn't register for it, but her Mom got it for her, and Kellie was so surprised when she opened it!  We all agreed it's beautiful and were glad she got it.

Blurry, but I wanted to get a picture.
Cute thoughtful Aunt Janet brought party gifts for all of us of pretty new kitchen towels.  Because who can't use a new kitchen towel?  I know I do!
She and her girls gave Kellie this awesome gift with Grandma's bread recipe, complete with pans, rolling pin, hot pads, a bread knife, etc.  So useful but sentimental!

Jill created this wonderful recipe book of family favorites!

The whole group - thanks to Sarah for helping me be brave to request a group photo!
We all had a great time!  I love how our family all comes together to support and celebrate eachother.

I am bummed I couldn't be there, too! I love the picture of Tim and Kellie at the top of the post. It looks like it was so much fun. I would have been all teary at Aunt Janet's gift (it's nice to have the pregnancy excuse to cry at everything).
