Progress

Several weeks ago we had our primary program in Sacrament meeting. The kids did a great job, and I was able to hear most of the songs in the hall, which is where Diddles and I spent almost the entire meeting! Grrrr. Thankfully, Josh was smart and snatched this bootleg video clip of Yaks delivering his line about our bodies being temples so that I could see. "I will exercise."

Diddles had a good week of healing. We should have bought stock in band-aids, as we've gone through almost three boxes since she was burned! Our house was littered with wrappers and discarded band-aids. Her fingertips are still pink, but the new skin has healed nicely and she doesn't need them covered anymore. Her palms, which were burned the worst, still have the excess skin from the blisters, so I keep them covered with bandages so they can continue healing.

Thank goodness for this burn cream, which we have been liberally applying on a regular basis! It works great and stops pain almost immediately. I think of Balm of Gilead when I use it. It's really something.

Every time Diddles walks past the fireplace, she says, "Haw" (hot) and then "Oush"(ouch), and she points to her hands and wimpers. Poor kid. I won't be forgetting it for a long time either!

The kids worked hard all day on Saturday cleaning their rooms. They had gotten out of hand - crammed with crafts and art supplies, toys, papers from projects and school, outgrown clothes mixed with ones that fit. Josh took the kids to Wal-Mart and told them he would be having periodic and random "room checks", and if they could go a whole month and pass their inspections, they would be awarded the prize they chose. It's worked like a charm so far. Spotless rooms, made beds, clothes put away. Josh says it takes 30 days to form (or break) a habit, so here's hoping!

Speaking of Josh. He's awesome.

No children were harmed in the filming of this wrestling match! At least not seriously.

The kids were showing me their rooms last night - proud that they were still clean. They had each made "door signs" and posted them on their doors. Yaks had this picture, along with another sign with his name and "phone number" (four-digits, 5413). I asked him to tell me about his picture.

"This is me...
and this is you...
and you're thinking about me,
and I'm thinking about YOU."

Let me know if you get that "kids clean their own rooms" thing to work. I never could with my older kids and it isn't looking good for Abbey either. We have tried bribery before but to no avail. Good luck with that and healing your little sweetheart's hands. Ouch! Or should I say, oush!

Oh my how fun to have a bootleg of the primary program . . . cracks me up!

Ouch for the burn - our littlest one seems to always be getting burned that last one was a motorcycle burn. And yes that stuff is magic we have stock in it! Lucky for us I can just bring it home from work!
