Birthday Cards

I had a lovely birthday! Josh stayed home from work and took Boo to and from school, which she loved and I loved as well! I got to talk to my parents on phone - uninterrupted. I received flowers delivered from my sweet in-laws, which are happily blooming on my counter. Lots of well-wishes and birthday greetings via Facebook, and several text messages. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. We left our kids with my visiting teacher and went out on a "kidless" dinner date - our first real date without the kids since we moved here! It was wonderful...and delicious!

Swilly's House Salad: Spring greens, candied pecans, red onion, gorgonzola, house balsamic vinaigrette

Brazilian Seafood Stew : Prawns, Mahi Mahi, & Mussels in a Tomato Coconut Sauce

Chicken and Sausage Cacciatore with Potato Gnocchi and Pecorino Romano

My good friend Steph, whom I've known for over 10 years, always sends me a card in the mail for my birthday. I love getting mail, don't you? It's so thoughtful of her to think about me every year.

I love cards. I have a box of them that I just can't bear to part with.
Here are some from my birthday:

This birthday card came from Yaks. He drew me a teeny tiny birthday cake with candles.
I love his drawings - they are detailed and very small, and he draws with such concentration, always with his tongue sticking out. :)

This one is from Boo: Balloons a-plenty, and a phonetically spelled message.
Happy Birthday Mom. I love you Mom. I hope you have a great (grht) birthday (brfday). LOVE. IT! Special mention to Josh who organized the card creating.

Finally from my parents: My dad has been known to spend hours in the card aisle looking for the perfect card that says just what he's feeling. This one is surely from my mom. I love it.

Don't you love my parent's handwriting? I'm not sure how I ended up with such sloppy writing, but I love to see their fonts :)

I'm glad you had a wonderful birthday, and I'm SO jealous of your birthday dinner menu. Tell Yaks that he is bound to be an artist with the tongue thing going on. That is the only way Brett can draw.

Ames,
I'm so glad you had a great day. Sounds like yummy dinner. Glad the card arrived. Birthdays are a big deal around here.... if you were at my house I'd have let you wear my Disneyland Birthday Cake Hat that has lights and sings to you all at the same time. You're fabulous. Love ya.

I love Yaks' birthday cake. It's like a cake with giant sparklers on it! Boo is doing so well with her writing. I can't believe she is only in Kindergarten. You have taught her so well. Happy Birthday again!
