Favorite Things: Inflatable Holiday Decor

I first posted on our neighbors' inflatable holiday decorations back in '08 here.  I just re-read the post and almost welled up with tears looking at that first picture of little Yakkers trekking on his Big Wheel bike to go see the Inflatable Turkey set up for Thanksgiving.  He looks so little!  We've really done a lot of growing in this place - both literally and figuratively.  Yaks was only seven months old and now he's three-and-a-half!

Lest you think that we are now "too mature" for such childish things as inflatable holiday decor, think again!  It still holds as much magic and excitement for Boo and Yaks as it did the first day they discovered it.  They continue to gasp and scream when we drive past it and tell us what they see and exclaim whether it's awake or asleep.  It's magical.  Here is what it looked like just yesterday:

That's Scooby Doo up there on the roof and he's dressed up for Halloween!  He's got a purple mask and cape and is ready to do some serious trick-or-treating for Scooby Snacks.  Down on the lawn there is a cat, who sometimes doesn't inflate all the way.  The kids still declare that an deflated ornament is simply "sleeping".  Very well.  I can't believe I cut the enormous snow globe with flying bats out of the picture!  It's off to the left there.  I love it.  It's tacky, but I LOVE it, and I'll miss it.  How else are we gonna know what holiday is coming?  I guess we'll have to just use a boring calendar.  :)

Oh Amy, cute idea walking down memory lane. When are you officially moving? Are you at all looking forward to it? I'm feeling for you. How's the kidlets? And I thought of you yesterday and I finally have my internet back in my life so HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! XO-

Cute. I hope my neighbors feel the same about those beauties. Would you believe that 2 years ago December, while I was at work one winter eve, my darling husband went to the local DRUGSTORE (truly, it was at Walgreens) and BOUGHT one of those little inflatable treasures?

My kids are WILD about it. I said to my dear husband, "Honey, that's tacky, the HOA is going to be beating down our door within 24 hours." But, much to my surprise, (and a little disappointment) no one's said a word about Micky and Minnie who, in all their inflated glory, sled across my front yard each winter.

I'm loving your favorite things, keep them coming.
