I signed up on Facebook a while ago, and have been amazed to reconnect with people that I knew in High School and even people I knew in Elementary School! We moved around a lot, and I didn't seem to learn the art of keeping in touch with people until college. It's pretty cool how the Internet can bring us all together, although I have NO desire to attend my high school 13 year reunion they have planned. Blah.
Tejal (and her brother Sujay) were our friends who lived across the street from us in NY (grades 6-9). They were really nice kids, and their parents were as well. Tejal was really short and I was really tall (for my age at the time), and we must have looked like odd friends. She was the smartest girl in our class, and I could (and did) always ask her for help on math problems before school. I remember I was once invited to their home for dinner, and how different it was that their house had Janist statues and shrines decorating their home. I was even more amazed that their home was so quiet and clean! I'm sure our family of nine children must have seemed really strange to them as well, with our pictures of temples and prophets on the walls, the chaos and loud volume that was always present. It's funny that our differences really never crossed my mind back then. I loved her mom's beautiful clothing that she wore, and she was always so nice and friendly. She taught me how to remove the garlic smell from my hands by using table salt mixed w/ soap. I still use it today!
Tejal graduated in Mechanical Engineering, is married and expecting a baby in a few months. Oh, and Sujay has a mustache. Aren't reunions fun?
Not really a reunion, but an anniversary! We celebrated our 5th this past Saturday! Mental Note: Start taking pictures together each anniversary to create a little picture archive.
Finally, we're prepping to go up to Bear Lake tomorrow for a week of Hale family reunion fun! We used to have family reunions up there growing up. I know it won't be quite the same memories now that I'm a parent instead of a child, but hopefully we'll all have a fun time. It's not often that we are all together in one place! Peter's getting married on Friday, so we'll be celebrating another wedding in the family, which is wonderful! See you next week!
