FHE: Family Unity

Tonight the topic is Family Unity. January can sometimes be a downer after all of the family has come to visit for the holidays with family dinners, parties, get-togethers, etc. It's especially difficult when families live far away and we don't get to see them as often. So, tonight we will be talking about strengthening that bond within our own family, as well as within our extended family.
  • I'm pulling some bits and pieces from this church manual lesson on families.
  • Then we'll be working on learning the song "We are a Happy Family" Because we are...right? RIGHT??
I found a couple fun clipart pictures, and we'll stick these (the hugging family picture) on sticks or tape them onto a board as we sing.
  • I found some great ideas on having family dinner that I want to read over, but I think tonight we're going to make birthday cards for the January birthdays in the family! I found this and other ideas on this Womens' Conference Sharing Page the article is called Families: Close to Our Hearts, Living Far Away.
  • And if all else fails, we'll color! Hooray!

I hope your FHE goes better than ours. We did that topic last week (also based off that great FHE calendar) and I compared being a family to being a team. I talked about how we had to be team players and work together to get the chores done, have fun, be successful, etc.

The next day, Goose got mad when I told her it was time to leave the indoor playground and she told me she wanted to join another team!

We are going to the library tonight for FHE to find us some happy books to read.

Onthego, do you have a three-year-old, or a teenager? At least she understands what TEAM means!?
