A Sick Day for Mom

I caught a cold. Runny nose, sneezing, congestion, body aches, etc. I'm taking sudafed and ibuprofen. I had to cancel our date night tonight, which I was really looking forward to. I'm grateful I'm sick this week and not next week during Christmas. I feel bad for my kids. They've watched a lot of movies the past two days, while I held the couch down.

JB was a champ and came home early from work yesterday, bundled up the kids and took them shopping, to "Old Macdonald's", and then to look at Christmas light displays. I sat in the quiet house, watched TV, snuggled in my favorite sweater that Heidi gave to me, ate chicken noodle soup and munched on grilled cheese. JB returned home with our rosy-cheeked and happy kids, put them to bed and brought in a huge box of oranges, which we happily ate while watching the Bourne Ultimatum. He also rented Harry Potter 5 for me. It's nice when moms can have a sick day, too. I'm feeling much better today.

I just got back from buying another 5 lb box of Clementines from Costco. We're going on 15 lbs in three weeks. Yikes! But could there be any better snack? They're small, portable, not messy and always satisfying.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, and that you got some extra help while you were down. I tend to get violently sick only during big projects at work or when daddy is out of town. Go figure.

That's funny you mentioned clementines. We are huge fans of the fruit as well. JB said they were all sold out - everyone must have the same idea!

Unfortunately, I've had a lot of these lately. It's so nice to have husbands who recognize the need and are willing to take the kids. I don't know what I would do if Wil was oblivious to the need for some Mommy time, especially when I'm feeling so yucky. I hope you feel better soon!

Sorry to hear that you were sick. Getting together Friday got lost on my list of other busy things...I'm exhausted. But I should have at least called and found out you weren't feeling good and offered to help. I am glad that Josh helped give you a quiet night ALONE at the house. That is always nice.
