Saturday Hike

Saturday we got a glimmer of Spring with some sunny skies and warmer temperatures. We put our grocery list and chores on the back burner and ventured out to find a Saturday hike. We aren't very familiar with places to go, so we consulted Josh's co-worker, Chad, who suggested this spot. We invited him along with his son, Jack. It was fun to have some company for us and the kids!

Our "hike" was really just an easy walk around the trail of the perimeter of the lake. I'm not sure of the name of the lake, or if it was a lake at all. It could have been a small reservoir or even a pond. There were people fishing there, and a few canoes, so you get an idea of the size. The biggest challenge we faced were some patches of slippery ice and sticky mud.

This pair of bald eagles were soaring around the lake. By the time we got the camera out to take a picture, they were up too high to tell. It was really amazing to see one that close, and in the wild, no less!

It was apparent that our kids have been indoors for most of the winter. Their endurance was pathetic. "I'm tired of walking," was ringing through the trees!

During our break we introduced the kids to the beauty of pussy willows. Chad kindly cut one for each child and they had fun spreading the fuzzy down all over the place.

Speaking of fuzzy...if this face doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy, I don't know what will! She didn't make a peep the whole time and seemed to thouroughly enjoy her perch in our newly-purchased kid backpack.

"Let's do this again next Saturday!"

Brooke - It was between Troy and Deary. I'll have to have Josh give you directions.
