I first experienced Nielsen's Frozen Custard when I went to visit my Aunt Janet and Uncle Dick one year. I was homesick, and longed for something familiar. If you were to see and hear my mom and aunt side-by-side, you'd see the resemblance. It's wonderful. They have the exact same chuckle. As I sat around with my wonderful cousins and got caught up on all of our news, Aunt Janet suggested tht we needed some ice cream (ah yes, we're family!). We all went over to Nielsen's for some Concretes.
How do I explain a Concrete? Delicious, creamy frozen custard, blended to perfection with the flavor of your choice to the perfect consistency. It is served in an above-the-rim cup with a spoon literally STUCK into the thick frozen treat, hence the name "concrete".
They have a flavor-of-the-day and some of my favorites are pumpkin spice, raspberry, caramel cashew, and chocolate almond. But, my all-time-favorite has to be plain old vanilla. Heaven! I discovered another store in Salt Lake (thanks to the Seaman family) when I was doing my student teaching. . I would treat myself to a scoop every Friday as a reward for finishing another week! NO wonder none of my clothes fit when I finished that semester!
We've only been a few times on special occasions while we've lived here (we went there last night for FHE), but it will always have a special place in my heart...and my sweet tooth!

Haha!
I stopped by there, JUST YESTERDAY, and treated myself to a single cup of chocolate and an order of fries AFTER my Doctor's appt (that deserves a treat, right).
As I was pulling away from the window I honestly thought, "Amy should include this in her list of favorites, but who am I to make her list of Bountiful likes?!?" I'm glad (and not really surprised) to see this wonderful treat on your list!
We'll have to see if there is some way to pack and ship an occasional concrete your way. Wouldn't that be wonderful?!? My mom still stops by on my porch with a carmel cashew concrete in hand for me when things are rough around here. It doesn't get much better than that!
Delicious. Aren't they fabulous? I'm loving your 'favorite things' list, it's a taste of "home" for me.
Thanks.
Oh, I agree! My mouth is watering all the way from Qatar.
That sounds so delicious. I grew up in Utah and visited Aunt Janet often and have never been there! Such a shame! I'll put it on my list of places to visit next time we're in Utah.
