When we got to the park and the kids ran full-steam to the slides, and Yaks' pants started to do some sliding of their own. I realized he had dressed himself in a pair of shorts that were a size too big for him, and they were slinking down below his bum. We tried tucking in his shirt and even tucking the shorts into his diaper, but to no avail. Suddenly, I realized that I had put an elastic headband in my purse that just might work as a belt! I had him step through the band and shimmied it up to his waist. He smiled at me when we gave it a successful test run as if to say, "Wow, that was pretty awesome, Mom." And it WAS.
Yaks with his elastic shorts and a "sword", which today was a golf club (sigh).
Boo has been having a hard time lately in the constipation department (pun intended). It's made for a grumpy little girl, and potty time is so dramatic that I feel like a labor coach, if you know what I mean. It's been painful for her to go run around, ride bikes, etc, and that's been no fun either! We've gotten her regular now thanks to some medicine and cutting down her beloved milk consumption. Today she had a great time and when we got home from the park, she wanted to ride her bike, draw with chalk, and shoot some hoops. Boo's back!
No kidding, she put on these sunglasses and proceeded to make
five (5) swishes in our adult basketball hoop.
Boo hasn't always been much for the fine motor skill of careful drawing/coloring.
It used to make her frustrated to tears to try to draw a face.
She's come a long way with this scene (sorry, blocked by the lovely shadow of our b'ball hoop)
of the Wizard of Oz characters.

So cute! I love this stage of early drawing that our girls are in.
The pictures look great...Meg did the same "I'm not even going to attempt drawing if I can't make it perfect stage." We still fight the tears sometimes...but thankfully, she's moved onto trying the cute stick figures too. Such CHARACTER!
oh, and, I forgot that the doct told us to go off the cheese too when we where dealing with the constipation. The dairy is a big deal, which is hard when that's basically what we live off here.
I'm glad that she's back to normal...keep the medicine on hand though...and use it as regularly as needed. doct said no harm if taken for WEEKS, and it doesn't get into their blood/etc.
You are so inventive! MacGyver has nothing on you. He may have saved lives, but you saved a park day from ending too early - life and death to a little one. I love this post!
So glad everything is back to normal with Boo. She looks so glamorous with the sunglasses on. SO how are you doing? When do we get an Amy update?
Yay! So glad you saved the day at the park. ingenious! I can't believe boo swished 5 baskets... are you serious? That's amazing. My kids can't even throw the ball up that high and they are older than your Boo. That is so so cool.
On the finale, Jason told Melissa that he loved her and then proposed to her. Of course she was thrilled and so happy. On 'After the final rose', he broke up with her and told her he was still in love with Molly. He asked Molly for another chance. It is one thing to break up with someone because your lives are going in different directions, but it is another thing to break up with someone because your heart is somewhere else. After which you are engaged and should be planning a wedding to the other person. I don't know..to me the whole thing is disgusting and especially that ABC did it publicly. How sad.
Anyway...purely my opinion. How are you feeling?
hurray for warm weather. sadly we are far from that as Alaska gears up for the Iditarod. But I am proud of your ingenuity and glad Boo is better!
He's wearing SHORTS??? Oh, for a warm day in Ohio...
I love the multiple uses of elastic headband... kids can do some funny stuff when they dress themselves. Boo's chalk art is really nice. I remember how she used to get really upset about faces. Glad to hear that the constipation problems have subsided... at least it wasn't the other way around. P.S.- I love your idea of doing a trip to Disneyland with the family... the kids would have a blast! Tell Boo that we saw lots of princesses, but we didn't get any pictures... Steve was trying to avoid the princess stuff.
Wow, Ames, very impressive with the elastic. Were you a boy scout? (Always prepared :) ) I am glad Boo is feeling better, I have a little one who takes Miralax every day in her chocolate milk, our pediatric urologist says it is harmless and a miracle worker. Anyway, I'm glad she's back to her old self. How are YOU feeling? I'm impressed that you are even AT the park and not laying on the couch for a little pregnancy siesta. Good job, Ames
